Make the change as a Legal Counsel in International Sanctions

Legal Counsel will be joining pan- Baltic compliance organization and will be involved in sanctions risk assessment, complex cases resolution and advising business stakeholders to ensure sanctions compliance with international and national sanctions regimes, industry best practices and other legislative requirements.


- Provide guidance and compliance assistance to resolve complex sanctions cases;
- Track sanctions regulatory changes and industry best practices and propose appropriate measures to be taken and implemented into sanctions control framework;
- Contribute to sanctions policies and procedures development and implementation in line with regulatory requirements;
- Provide legal input during sanctions risk assessment process and advise stakeholders on risk mitigating measures;
- Provide legal opinion to customer risk committee on sanctions risk exposure;
- Perform compliance reviews/monitoring in sanctions compliance area;
- Collaborate with other units to manage identified compliance gaps, issues and risks and to implement compliance action plans and recommendations;
- Provide internal trainings on the relevant laws and regulations to Group Compliance and other structural units of the bank and entities within Luminor Group;
- Report on regular basis and upon request to the direct manager and Chief Compliance Officer;
- Contribute to the team and Luminor Group performance through effective collaboration, engagement and commitment.

Skills and Experience:

- Extensive experience with US sanctions and sanctions risk assessment;
- Profound knowledge of international sanctions regimes and respective reporting requirements;
- Previous experience in sanctions expert/advisory role in financial industry or regulator;
- High level of initiative and responsibility, driving results with energy and positive attitude;
- Excellent communication and advisory skills, ability to explain complicated matters in understandable manner;
- High ethical standards and commitment to do the right thing;
- Full working proficiency in English (oral and written);
- Professional qualified certification (e.g. CGSS, CAMS) is beneficial;
- For non- EU applicants valid working permit is required.
