Short description of the role

Luminor is committed to building the first true pan-Baltic bank. As part of the full cross-border merger and the development of a unified and modern digital customer offering, the bank is consolidating not only technological platforms, but also transforming the whole risk organization. In order to improve the bank's capital management, several key strategic initiatives are planned, one of them being the adoption of the Internal Ratings-Based approach (IRBA). The role is based directly in the team overseeing and driving all these transformational initiatives.

Key responsibilities will be:

- Shape the future of a data-driven organization by implementing processes and frameworks for extracting, analysing and interpreting data in creative ways
- Advise on state-of-the-art advanced analytic and quantitative tools and modelling techniques in order to derive business insights, solve complex business problems and improve decisions
- Review, support and advise on the day-to-day analytic requirements of Luminor's key operational processes
- Create valuable transformative business strategies by conducting hands-on quantitative analysis
- Presentation of results to bank management and implementation of recommendations in collaboration with project team members.

Required experience and professional competencies:

- University graduate student with outstanding record of academic achievement in a STEM related field (Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, Business Analytics) with less than 2 years of work experience
- Deep understanding of statistical and predictive modelling concepts, machine-learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms
- Experience in two or more programming languages (Python, C++, C#, R, SQL, etc.)
- Ability to easily understand the complex algorithm and logic to process data
- Hands-on experience in statistical or heavy numerical analyses and practitioner of statistical data quality procedures or test-driven approaches for quality assurance
- Basic business intuition with the ability to describe analytic processes, including when and why specific approaches are favoured

Other requirements:

- Initiative and high-level of ownership and responsibility
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
- Detail oriented with ability to work under pressure, mentally resilient to endure the long and tough road of a transformation
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a passion for coaching colleagues
- Strong multi-tasking abilities, flexibility, and patience in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in English – both verbally and in writing (MS PowerPoint / MS Word)
- Willingness to travel

A salary range for this position from 2500 EUR (Gross), which is to be determined depending on the level of experience and competencies of the selected candidate.
